1 John 3:10

What does 1 John 3:10 mean?
John is drawing a clear line here: the way we live reveals who we truly belong to. This isn't about being perfect or earning God's approval through good behavior, but rather about the direction of our hearts and choices. When we genuinely know God, righteousness (doing what's right) and love for others naturally flow from that relationship, like fruit growing from a healthy tree. The passage acknowledges a hard reality: some people consistently choose the opposite path, turning away from both God's way and genuine care for others. John's point is that these aren't neutral choices. He's saying that if we claim to follow God while neglecting righteousness or refusing to love those around us, something is misaligned in our faith.
