What does 1 Corinthians 3:22 mean?
Paul is reminding the Corinthian church that they've been divided into factions, with some claiming loyalty to Paul, others to Apollos, and still others to Peter (Cephas). Rather than letting these leaders become sources of competition and pride, Paul flips the perspective: all these teachers and everything in existence actually belong to *them*, not the other way around. When you're part of God's family, you inherit access to all the spiritual gifts and wisdom these leaders offer, without needing to pick sides or prove your allegiance to one person. Death, life, present circumstances, and future hope—nothing can be taken from you or held over your head. This is Paul's way of saying that petty divisions miss the point entirely. You're not meant to be owned by any leader or circumstance; you're meant to be free in Christ and able to draw on all the resources God has made available to his people.
