What does Zechariah 8:7 mean?

God is promising to gather His scattered people from every direction—from east and west, which in biblical language means from every corner of the earth. This was spoken after the exile, when the Jewish people were dispersed across the Persian Empire, and it offered them hope that God hadn't abandoned them despite their suffering. The promise reminds us that no matter how far away we feel from God or how lost our circumstances make us seem, He remembers us and is working to bring us home. For anyone in a difficult season wondering if God is still present, this verse speaks to His commitment to His people across all distances and all circumstances.
