Zechariah 7:12

Yes, they made their hearts as hard as flint, lest they might hear the law, and the words which Yahweh of Armies had sent by his Spirit by the former prophets. Therefore great wrath came from Yahweh of Armies.

What does Zechariah 7:12 mean?

The people Zechariah is describing deliberately chose not to listen. They hardened their hearts like stone, refusing to hear God's messages delivered through the prophets, even though those messages came with divine authority and care. When we persistently ignore what we know is true, especially warnings meant to guide us toward better living, we create distance between ourselves and God, and that distance eventually has real consequences. The "great wrath" here isn't God losing his temper; it's the natural result of people rejecting the help and wisdom offered to them, like refusing a doctor's advice and then suffering the illness that could have been prevented.
