Zechariah 2:9

For, behold, I will shake my hand over them, and they will be a plunder to those who served them; and you will know that Yahweh of Armies has sent me.

What does Zechariah 2:9 mean?

God is promising swift judgment against those who have oppressed his people, using the image of a hand shake as a signal for sudden action. When he moves against Israel's enemies, those nations will experience reversal, becoming spoil for the very people they once dominated. Through this dramatic intervention, both Israel and the watching world will have unmistakable proof that God has truly sent this messenger (the prophet or angelic figure speaking to Zechariah) and that his power is real. It's a word of hope for people who have felt powerless, reminding them that God sees their suffering and will act decisively on their behalf.
