Romans 8:7
“because the mind of the flesh is hostile towards God; for it is not subject to God’s law, neither indeed can it be.”
What does Romans 8:7 mean?
When we're ruled by our own desires and fears rather than by trust in God, we naturally resist what God asks of us. Paul is describing a real conflict that happens inside us: our instinct to protect ourselves, get what we want, and avoid pain actually works against surrender to God. He's not saying we're helplessly evil, but rather that without God's help, our natural self-protective impulses can't cooperate with his ways on their own.
