Romans 6:10
“For the death that he died, he died to sin one time; but the life that he lives, he lives to God.”
What does Romans 6:10 mean?
Christ's death was a complete, final payment for sin, not something that needs repeating. Now in his risen life, he exists entirely for God, completely free from sin's grip and fully devoted to his Father's purposes. Paul is drawing a contrast here to help us understand what happened through Jesus. His death settled the sin problem once and for all, and his resurrection launched him into a transformed existence where he lives in perfect union with God. This isn't just information about Jesus, though. It's meant to reframe how we think about our own lives and freedom from sin's control through faith in him.
