Romans 5:3
βNot only this, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces perseverance;β
What does Romans 5:3 mean?
We can rejoice in hard times because struggle actually builds something valuable in us: resilience and strength. Paul isn't saying suffering itself is good or that we should seek it out, but rather that when difficulty comes (and it does for everyone), it can develop real character and endurance in our faith. The point is that nothing you're going through is wasted or pointless, even when it feels overwhelming. That knowledge alone can shift how we relate to our pain, helping us see it as part of a larger story of growth rather than meaningless punishment.
