What does Romans 5:21 mean?

Sin and death have always been connected, like a ruler controlling a kingdom. But Paul is saying that God's grace is now the stronger force at work, reigning through Jesus and leading us toward eternal life instead. The shift from death's rule to grace's rule isn't automatic or earned, it's available to us through Jesus Christ. When we trust him, we're choosing to step out from under sin's authority and into grace's kingdom, where righteousness and life become our reality.
