Romans 4:6
“Even as David also pronounces blessing on the man to whom God counts righteousness apart from works,”
What does Romans 4:6 mean?
David understood something profound: God's favor isn't a paycheck earned through good behavior. In Psalm 32, David describes the relief of having sin forgiven and righteousness credited to him, not because of anything he did but purely through God's grace. Paul brings up David here to show that this way of receiving God's blessing isn't a new Christian invention, but something woven through the entire biblical story. When God counts us as righteous apart from our works, we're freed from the exhausting burden of trying to earn our way into his good graces. That blessing David speaks of, the deep sense of being accepted and forgiven, is available to all of us on the same terms it was available to him.
