Romans 4:15
βFor the law produces wrath, for where there is no law, neither is there disobedience.β
What does Romans 4:15 mean?
Paul is explaining how God's law works differently than many people expect. The law itself doesn't save us or make us right with God, instead it shows us where we've fallen short and invites God's judgment on us. Without a clear standard to measure ourselves against, we might not even recognize our wrongdoing, but that doesn't mean we're innocent, it just means we're unaware. This is encouraging news if you're tired of trying to earn God's favor through rule-keeping. Paul wants us to understand that being right with God comes through trust in what Jesus did, not through our effort to follow every command perfectly.
