Romans 3:23
“for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God;”
What does Romans 3:23 mean?
Paul wrote this to help us understand something crucial: nobody gets a pass on sin. Not the religious leaders of his day, not the people reading his letter, not us. We all miss the mark of what God's glory demands, which is perfection and complete faithfulness. This isn't meant to shame us into despair, though. It's actually the foundation for the good news Paul is about to share. Once we admit that we're all in the same boat, struggling and imperfect, we can stop pretending and start accepting the help God offers. The equality of our struggle is what opens the door to God's grace for everyone.
