Romans 15:16
“that I should be a servant of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles, serving as a priest of the Good News of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be made acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.”
What does Romans 15:16 mean?
Paul describes his sense of calling here, using the language of Old Testament priesthood to explain what his work among non-Jewish believers actually means. Just as priests in the temple offered sacrifices to God, Paul sees himself as offering up the Gentiles themselves—their transformed lives and faith—as a living gift to God. He's saying that his entire ministry, the struggles and letters and travels, all point toward this beautiful goal: helping people who were once far from God become holy and acceptable to him through the Holy Spirit's work. It's a picture of how our lives, when we turn toward God, become the most meaningful offering we can give.
