What does Romans 12:16 mean?
Paul invites us into a kind of humble fellowship where we meet each other as equals rather than competitors or judges. When he says "be of the same mind," he's not asking us all to think identically, but to share a common orientation toward valuing one another genuinely. The warning against "high things" speaks to a real temptation: to chase status, to distance ourselves from people we see as lesser, or to build our identity on being smarter or better than others. Instead, Paul suggests actually spending time with humble people, letting their wisdom and company shape us. And that last part about not being "wise in your own conceits" is a quiet but powerful reminder that the certainty we're most proud of can be our greatest blind spot. There's something freeing about admitting we don't have it all figured out.
