Romans 12:14
“Bless those who persecute you; bless, and don’t curse.”
What does Romans 12:14 mean?
When someone hurts or opposes you, your instinct might be to wish them harm or speak ill of them. Paul is asking something harder and more transformative: to actually speak good toward those people instead. This doesn't mean pretending the hurt didn't happen or that their actions were okay, but rather refusing to let bitterness poison your own words and heart. This goes against everything our anger tells us to do, which is exactly the point. By choosing to bless rather than curse, you're breaking a cycle and refusing to become like the person who wronged you. It's a practice that slowly changes you from the inside out, turning you toward the kind of person Jesus described as living the good life, no matter what others do.
