What does Romans 11:2 mean?
Paul is reassuring worried believers that God hasn't abandoned the Jewish people, even though many rejected Jesus. He's about to remind them of a surprising moment in Israel's history when the prophet Elijah felt utterly alone, convinced he was the only faithful person left in the entire nation. By bringing up Elijah's despair, Paul is setting up a powerful point: even when things look hopeless and God's people seem unfaithful, God has always preserved a faithful remnant.
