What does Revelation 9:7 mean?
John is describing a vision of locusts—creatures from the abyss—that don't look like ordinary insects at all. Instead, they have the strength and readiness of war horses, the regal appearance of crowned beings, and human intelligence reflected in their faces. This unsettling mixture of animal, human, and royal qualities makes them seem both powerful and deeply wrong, which is precisely the point: these are not natural creatures, but supernatural forces of chaos and destruction. The imagery conveys that what's coming isn't just dangerous, but fundamentally alien to the created order, and the crowns might suggest they carry a twisted authority or dominion of their own.
