What does Revelation 3:15 mean?
Jesus is speaking to a church that has become lukewarm, and he's expressing real disappointment about it. The image here is of water that's neither refreshingly cold nor usefully hot, which makes it worthless and even repulsive. He's saying that a church without conviction, passion, or clear commitment to faith is harder to work with than one that's openly hostile or completely devoted. This lands differently depending on where you are. If you've felt yourself drifting spiritually, losing the fire you once had, this verse might sting, but it's actually an invitation to wake up.
