Revelation 2:4
βBut I have this against you, that you left your first love.β
What does Revelation 2:4 mean?
Jesus is speaking to a church that has grown busy and perhaps lost sight of why they began following him in the first place. Their initial passion, that deep love relationship with God that drew them in, has faded into routine. It's like a marriage where couples go through the motions but forget the warmth that brought them together. This matters because staying connected to Jesus relationally, not just religiously, is the whole point. The church had been doing the right things outwardly, but something essential had slipped away on the inside. If you've ever felt distant from God despite staying active in faith, this verse speaks directly to that ache.
