What does Revelation 16:20 mean?
In John's vision of the end times, he's describing a catastrophic upheaval so complete that even the most stable, immovable features of creation vanish. Islands disappearing and mountains ceasing to exist represent the total dissolution of the world as we know it, a complete reshaping of reality itself. This language isn't meant as a geology lesson but rather as a way to express something almost impossible to imagine: a transformation so absolute that everything we consider permanent and foundational is unmade.
