What does Revelation 11:16 mean?

The twenty-four elders represent the fullness of God's people across both Old and New Testaments (twelve tribes and twelve apostles), and here they respond to a moment of cosmic significance by falling prostrate in worship. This posture, falling on their faces, was the deepest gesture of reverence in ancient culture, showing complete surrender and awe. What makes this moment striking is that even these exalted beings, already seated in positions of honor before God's throne, still respond to His majesty by humbling themselves completely. It's a beautiful reminder that no matter how much we grow in faith or understanding, there's always a deeper level of reverence and wonder available to us when we encounter God's greatness.
