Psalms 86:15
“But you, Lord, are a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness and truth.”
What does Psalms 86:15 mean?
The psalmist is reminding himself (and us) of God's fundamental character when life feels overwhelming. Rather than a distant judge waiting to punish, God is described as patient, kind, and deeply committed to both love and honesty. "Slow to anger" doesn't mean God doesn't care about justice or wrongdoing, but rather that His default stance toward us is patience and compassion. This becomes especially comforting in hard seasons when we fear we've messed up beyond repair or when circumstances make us wonder if God still cares.
