Psalms 79:13
βSo we, your people and sheep of your pasture, will give you thanks forever. We will praise you forever, to all generations.β
What does Psalms 79:13 mean?
The psalmist is drawing on the tender image of God as a shepherd and his people as the flock in his care. After crying out against enemies and injustice in earlier verses, the writer turns toward trust and commitment, promising that despite hardship, gratitude will endure across time. This isn't a rushed thank-you but a deep resolve to keep praising through generations yet to come. It's the kind of promise made when you've moved from "why is this happening?" to "I will remember who God is anyway."
