Psalms 76:9

What does Psalms 76:9 mean?
God's power to judge the world is inseparable from his commitment to rescue those who are suffering and broken. The psalm presents a picture of divine justice that isn't distant or cold, but is actually turned toward protecting the vulnerable. When God acts decisively (which is what "arose" suggests), it's fundamentally an act of deliverance for the afflicted. This hits differently depending on where you are: if you're struggling, it names the hope that God's ultimate justice will mean safety for you. If you're doing okay, it calls you toward the same bias God has toward those who are hurting.
