What does Psalms 7:4 mean?
David is making a passionate oath here, declaring his own innocence by listing things he absolutely has not done. He's saying: I have never betrayed someone who was my friend, and I have never harmed someone just because they were against me. It's the language of someone whose reputation is under attack, swearing before God that these accusations are false. By spelling out what he hasn't done, David is essentially inviting God to examine his heart and see that he's lived with integrity, even toward his enemies.
