What does Psalms 51:11 mean?
David wrote this during one of his darkest moments, after being confronted about his terrible sins. He's not asking God to forgive him so much as begging God not to abandon him, not to withdraw the presence and guidance that have sustained him his whole life. The fear here is real: he knows he's broken trust, and he desperately needs to know God won't simply cast him away forever.
