Psalms 50:12
“If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it.”
What does Psalms 50:12 mean?
God is saying something that can sound surprising at first: He doesn't need anything from us, not even our offerings or our words. The world and everything in it already belongs to Him, so there's no shortage He's trying to fill through our worship or gifts. This wasn't meant to discourage people from giving or worshipping, but rather to shift their focus away from the idea that God is sitting in heaven waiting for us to supply what He's missing. Instead, He wants us to understand that any genuine offering we make comes from a heart of love and gratitude, not from a sense that God is desperately dependent on us. It's oddly freeing when you think about it: we're invited into relationship with the one being who is completely complete and whole.
