Psalms 49:12
“But man, despite his riches, doesn’t endure. He is like the animals that perish.”
What does Psalms 49:12 mean?
No matter how much wealth someone accumulates, it can't stop the reality that we all eventually die. The psalmist is gently reminding us that money and status are temporary comforts, not shields against our human mortality. Just as animals live out their natural lifespan and pass away, so do we, rich or poor alike. This isn't meant to be depressing so much as clarifying, helping us see that true security and meaning need to come from somewhere deeper than what we own.
