What does Psalms 39:2 mean?
The psalmist is describing a moment of deep pain where he tried to stay quiet and not complain, thinking silence might help him cope. Yet keeping everything bottled up inside, refusing even to speak about the good things happening around him, only made his sorrow grow stronger instead of fading away. It's a honest picture of what happens when we try to suppress our grief or emotions completely, hoping they'll just disappear on their own. Sometimes what we need isn't more silence, but the space and safety to actually name what we're feeling.
