Cease from anger, and forsake wrath. Don’t fret, it leads only to evildoing.

What does Psalms 37:8 mean?

Anger and worry can trap us in cycles that make things worse, not better. When we're fired up or consumed with anxiety about wrongs done to us, we're more likely to act in ways we'll regret, lashing out or scheming rather than thinking clearly. The psalmist is offering practical wisdom: stepping back from anger and letting go of resentment actually protects us from becoming the kind of person we don't want to be. It's an invitation to release what's eating at us, not because the hurt doesn't matter, but because holding onto it poisons us first.
