What does Psalms 29:1 mean?

The psalmist calls out to those with power and influence—whether mighty leaders, angels, or simply people of standing—to give God the credit and honor he deserves. Rather than holding onto glory for themselves, they're invited to recognize that any strength they possess ultimately comes from God. It's a reminder that acknowledging God's greatness isn't about diminishing ourselves, but about seeing clearly where real power actually comes from. When we ascribe glory to God, we're stepping into truth and releasing the exhausting burden of trying to earn or defend our own importance.
