What does Psalms 26:11 mean?

The psalmist is making a quiet commitment here, even while asking God for help. He's saying that regardless of what happens, he's going to keep living honestly and according to his conscience, and he's asking God to rescue him from his current troubles and show him kindness in return. This isn't arrogance about being perfect. Instead, it's someone in a hard season choosing to stay true to what he believes is right, while humbly acknowledging that he still needs God's rescue and compassion. It's a beautiful combination of personal responsibility and dependency on God.
