What does Psalms 22:4 mean?

The psalmist is reminding both himself and his community that God has a track record of faithfulness stretching back through generations. When the ancestors faced desperate situations, they called out to God and found deliverance, not because they were perfect or deserved rescue, but because God proved trustworthy. This isn't meant to minimize present suffering, but rather to anchor hope in something solid: if God came through for those who came before, there's reason to believe he can be trusted now, even when circumstances feel impossible. It's the kind of memory that steadies us when faith feels fragile.
