Psalms 148:3
“Praise him, sun and moon! Praise him, all you shining stars!”
What does Psalms 148:3 mean?
The psalmist is calling all of creation, from the brightest objects in our sky to the farthest stars, to join in praising God. It's a poetic way of saying that the beauty and order we see in the heavens declare God's greatness, and everything—animate or not—has a role in that praise. When you read this in the midst of Psalm 148, you realize the writer is building a chorus of all creation lifting up worship together, which can be deeply comforting when we feel small or alone.
