What does Psalms 135:3 mean?

The psalmist invites us to praise God because goodness is at the very heart of who he is. This isn't praise offered out of obligation or fear, but out of genuine delight in God's character—something that naturally brings joy to the person doing the praising. When we sing or speak God's name with grateful hearts, we're participating in something pleasant and life-giving, not performing a duty. The repeated call to praise suggests that remembering God's goodness is itself a gift that refreshes us, especially when life feels heavy.
