Psalms 119:28
“My soul is weary with sorrow: strengthen me according to your word.”
What does Psalms 119:28 mean?
When we're exhausted by grief or pain, we sometimes run out of our own strength to keep going. The psalmist is naming that real weariness, that heaviness that settles into our very being when sorrow has been going on too long. Rather than pretending to be fine or trying harder through sheer willpower, the psalmist turns to God's word and promises, asking God to rebuild what sorrow has worn down. There's something tender here about admitting we can't do this alone. The request isn't for the pain to vanish instantly, but for God's strength to sustain us through it, and for God's promises (the word) to become actual fuel for our depleted hearts.
