What does Psalms 107:11 mean?

In this verse, the psalmist describes people who actively reject God's guidance, not through ignorance but through stubborn defiance. They turn away from what they know God has said and dismiss his wisdom as if they know better. The parallelism here shows two sides of the same rebellion: resisting God's direct words while also disdaining his counsel or plans for them. This comes in a section of Psalm 107 that traces a pattern where people find themselves in trouble after pushing away God's voice, then cry out to him in their distress and find rescue. The point isn't judgment for judgment's sake, but an honest recognition that our own resistance to God's direction often leads us into difficult places where we discover our need for him.
