What does Psalms 106:41 mean?

When Israel turned away from God repeatedly, they experienced the painful consequence of foreign powers taking control of their land. This verse reflects moments in Israel's actual history, like when Assyrian and Babylonian armies conquered them and took many people into exile. The deeper truth here is that our choices have consequences, and sometimes those consequences come through difficult circumstances we don't control. The psalm is honest about how repeatedly rejecting God's guidance can leave us vulnerable and without protection. Yet even in this verse, there's an implicit call to remember: if you've drifted far, it's not too late to turn back toward God and seek restoration.
