What does Psalms 102:7 mean?

The psalmist is describing the loneliness and isolation of deep suffering. A solitary sparrow perched on a roof, separated from its flock, captures that particular ache of feeling cut off and exposed, with nowhere to hide. The imagery suggests someone awake at night, watching and waiting while everyone else seems to have moved on, which is often how grief or depression feels. It's a tender way of expressing how suffering can make us feel small, vulnerable, and utterly alone, yet the fact that even a tiny sparrow is noticed matters, especially to a God who cares for the smallest creatures.
