Proverbs 27:20
“Sheol and Abaddon are never satisfied; and a man’s eyes are never satisfied.”
What does Proverbs 27:20 mean?
This verse compares two things that never stop wanting more: the grave (Sheol) and destruction (Abaddon) on one hand, and human desire on the other. Just as these forces seem to consume endlessly, our eyes, our wants, and our cravings can pull us toward always needing the next thing. The writer is gently warning that chasing endless satisfaction through what we see and want is a losing game, much like trying to fill a hole that can never be full. It's a reminder that contentment doesn't come from accumulating more, but from somewhere deeper within us.
