Proverbs 25:2
“It is the glory of God to conceal a thing, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter.”
What does Proverbs 25:2 mean?
God finds joy in mystery, in the deep things that aren't immediately obvious, and that hidden quality reflects divine glory. Kings and leaders, by contrast, show their greatness by investigating, asking questions, and uncovering truth through careful search and discernment. This speaks to how we honor both God and our own calling: we can trust that God's wisdom operates in ways we won't fully understand, and we can also embrace our human responsibility to think deeply, ask hard questions, and seek understanding about the world around us. The verse isn't saying ignorance is bliss, but rather that some things require genuine effort to discover, and that pursuit itself is noble and important.
