Proverbs 20:10
βDiffering weights and differing measures, both of them alike are an abomination to Yahweh.β
What does Proverbs 20:10 mean?
Using dishonest scales in business, or any form of cheating in measurement or exchange, deeply offends God's sense of justice. This was a real problem in ancient marketplaces, where merchants might use different weights to cheat buyers and sellers, but the principle extends far beyond ancient trade. Whenever we're tempted to cut corners, bend the truth, or treat different people by different standards to our advantage, we're doing the same thing spiritually. God values integrity and fairness so highly that He sees deception in any form as a serious offense against His character.
