“None who go to her return again, neither do they attain to the paths of life:”
What does Proverbs 2:19 mean?
This verse speaks about the serious consequences of pursuing destructive paths, using the image of someone who doesn't return from a dangerous place. The "her" refers to the wayward or foolish woman mentioned in the chapter, representing any temptation or shortcut that promises ease but leads away from wisdom and flourishing. The warning isn't meant to condemn but to wake us up: some choices have a way of pulling us deeper in, making it harder to find our way back to what's good and life-giving.
