What does Proverbs 2:18 mean?
This verse is part of a longer passage warning against the seductive pull of someone who abandons their commitments and values. The "house" and "paths" are metaphors for the way of life such a person represents, not literal physical locations. Walking that road means losing yourself piece by piece, abandoning your integrity and future until nothing of real substance remains. The warning isn't meant to shame anyone, but to name something true: when we're drawn toward people or choices that ask us to compromise who we are, we're moving toward a kind of spiritual death, not toward life.
