What does Proverbs 18:2 mean?
A person who refuses to listen or think deeply is content to simply broadcast their own thoughts without caring whether they're right or helpful. The contrast here is sharp: one path leads to genuine growth and wisdom through learning, while the other is just noise, a constant need to be heard and proven correct. When we insist on speaking rather than listening, we miss the chance to learn from others and to understand situations more fully. The writer of Proverbs is gently pointing out that wisdom begins when we become curious about what we don't know, rather than attached to defending what we think we already know.
