What does Proverbs 18:1 mean?

Isolation and self-centeredness feed into each other in a dangerous way. When someone cuts themselves off from genuine relationships and community, they lose access to the wisdom and perspective that other people naturally offer. Without those corrective voices around them, their choices become increasingly narrow and distorted, shaped only by their own desires rather than by what's actually wise or good. This doesn't mean you need to be surrounded by people constantly, but it does point to something real: we all need trusted relationships where we can be challenged, questioned, and known. The "unfriendly" person described here isn't just lonely, they're actively resisting the very thing that could help them see clearly.
