What does Proverbs 18:11 mean?
Wealth can feel like a fortress, creating a sense of security and protection that's almost unbreakable in the mind of the person who has it. The point here isn't that money is actually protective in every way, but that it breeds confidence, sometimes an inflated sense of being untouchable or beyond vulnerability. The proverb gently suggests this trust in riches is partly imaginary, a wall that exists more in how we perceive our own safety than in what money can truly guarantee. It's worth asking ourselves: what are we really relying on to get us through life's harder moments, and is that foundation as solid as it feels?
