Proverbs 17:4
βAn evildoer heeds wicked lips. A liar gives ear to a mischievous tongue.β
What does Proverbs 17:4 mean?
People who are bent on doing wrong tend to surround themselves with others who encourage that path, whether through wicked advice or outright lies. This verse describes how we become shaped by the voices we listen to most carefully. When someone chooses to pay close attention to people who speak deception or harm, they're essentially choosing a direction for their own life. The flip side is also true: we all have the power to decide whose voices we actually let influence us, and steering toward honest, good-hearted people can genuinely change the trajectory of our choices.
