“No mischief shall happen to the righteous, but the wicked shall be filled with evil.”
What does Proverbs 12:21 mean?
This verse speaks to a fundamental truth about how our choices shape our lives: those who pursue what's right experience protection and peace, while those who chase wrongdoing end up trapped by the consequences of their own actions. The "righteous" here aren't people who never struggle or suffer, but rather those who genuinely seek to live with integrity and trust in God, and they find that their choices don't pile harm onto them the way reckless or harmful choices do. The second part is less about external punishment and more about internal reality: when you commit yourself to evil, you become full of it. Bitterness, fear, shame, and the need to keep covering your tracks all accumulate inside you.
