Proverbs 12:20
βDeceit is in the heart of those who plot evil, but joy comes to the promoters of peace.β
What does Proverbs 12:20 mean?
When we carry plans to harm others, that deceit lives inside us like a weight, coloring everything we think and do. But when we work toward peace, helping others find common ground and healing, something different happens: genuine joy rises up in us. The verse isn't saying that peaceful people never face difficulty, but rather that there's a deep satisfaction that comes from building others up instead of tearing them down. It's an invitation to notice what kind of person we become through our choices, and what kind of peace we might discover when we stop plotting and start promoting.
